The Ministry of Enterprise and Energy calls for Vattenfall to report on their work regarding nuclear safety
The Swedish Ministry of Enterprise and Energy calls for a special report from the state owned company Vattenfall AB on how they work with nuclear safety. The request has arisen due to the problems that have occurred in some of the nuclear reactors in Germany as well as the criticism which the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority has leveled against the safety routines at the Swedish nuclear power station Ringhals.
- These repeated incidents related to nuclear safety at Vattenfall's plants, is something the owner takes very seriously. We assume that Vattenfall will give the highest priority to improving the safety routines at their nuclear power stations, says State Secretary Ola Alterå.
- The owner made it very clear during Vattenfall's stakeholders' annual meeting this spring, that one of the most important expectations we have on the company now, is to improve the confidence in their company brand. The incidents these last few days have unfortunately damaged the confidence in the company both in Sweden and Germany, says Ola Alterå.
The Ministry of Enterprise and Energy has also contacted the German Federal Government in order to get their picture of the situation around the nuclear reactors in Germany.
