Education and Training 2020 - the EU's strategic framework for cooperation in education and training
In May 2009, the EU heads of state and government adopted a strategic framework for European cooperation in education and training, called Education and Training 2020.
Education and Training 2020 contains four strategic education objectives:
- Making lifelong learning and mobility a reality;
- improving the quality and efficiency of education and training;
- promoting equity, social cohesion and active citizenship; and
- enhancing creativity and innovation, including entrepreneurship, at all levels of education and training.
This work is to be carried out using the open method of coordination. This means that the Member States regularly exchange information and experience with each other and measure their results against jointly established indicators.
