Competitiveness Council discussed public procurement
On 20 February 2012, Minister for Public Administration and Housing Stefan Attefall took part in the Competitiveness Council in Brussels to negotiate the European Commission's proposal on new procurement rules.
Commission proposed new directives on public procurement
On 20 December, the Commission presented a proposal for new directives on public procurement. The new directives will replace the Classical and Utilities Directives, and a proposed directive on concessions. On 17 January, the Council Working Party on Public Procurement began the EU's negotiation work.
Service centre to streamline administrative services
On 3 November 2011, the Swedish Government decided to establish a service centre to handle the administrative activities of government agencies. The aim is to increase the efficiency of state (central government) administration and to reduce costs. The initiative will open up a new competitive market to private actors who can become subcontractors to the service centre.
