The Swedish EU Presidency
From 1 July 2009 and for six months Sweden holds the Presidency of the EU. Sweden will lead the EU's work and be responsible for moving important EU issues forward.
Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt to receive President Nicolas Sarkozy
On Friday, 3 July, Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt will receive French President Nicolas Sarkozy for talks. On the agenda are the Swedish Presidency priorities, first and foremost the financial and economic crisis and the road to an international climate agreement in Copenhagen in December.
Nordic countries sign agreements on credits to Iceland of 1.775 billion euro
Loan agreements have today been signed between Iceland and Denmark, Finland and Sweden respectively, and between Seðlabanki Íslands, guaranteed by Iceland and Norges Bank, guaranteed by Norway. Under the agreements the Nordic lenders stand ready to provide Iceland with total credits of 1.775 billion euro.
