Tobias Krantz - new Minister for Higher Education and Research
Today, Tobias Krantz is appointed as the new Minister for Higher Education and Research. Dr Krantz is an MP for the liberal party of Sweden, Folkpartiet liberalerna, and holds a Ph.D in political science.
Fredrik Reinfeldt participating in meeting of European Council on 18-19 June
On Thursday, 18 June and Friday 19 June, Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt and Minister for EU affairs Cecilia Malmström will be in Brussels to participate in the meeting of the European Council. Various issues will be adressed, including the continued development and management of the economic and financial crisis, the climate issue as well as the nomination of a new President of the Commission.
Nordic Prime Ministers' Declaration on Climate Change
During a meeting on Iceland the Prime Ministers of the Nordic countries presented a declaration on Climate Change. The Nordic countries will work actively to bring about an ambitious global agreement at the Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in December 2009.
Maud Olofsson comments on the signing of a letter of intent to purchase Saab
"It is good that the Saab ownership issue is now being resolved. This is a decision that the company's employees, the town of Trollhättan, the Västra Götaland region and the Government have been waiting for", says Minister for Enterprise and Energy Maud Olofsson. The letter of intent between the parties means that the National Debt Office can now initiate negotiations with Saab and its future owners on the conditions for state credit guarantees for loans from the European Investment Bank (EIB), if the new owners so wish.
